Michael and Alicia Hernon live in Steubenville, OH with their 10 children. Mike is the Vice President of Strategic Relations for Franciscan University and the host of EWTN’s show “Franciscan University Presents”. Before working for Franciscan, Mike worked in the world of politics on the local, state, and national level. In addition to being a mom, Alicia has taught music for the past 15 years to young children and currently she is the founding director of a non-profit, Mary Seat of Wisdom Classical Community, which offers support and resources for homeschooling families as well as a full time Montessori school. Our children range in age from 5 to 22 years old. We homeschool, send some to Catholic or public school, in addition to college. One thing we have learned over the years is that every child and their needs are unique.

Messy Parenting will be releasing two new podcasts each month. As they say, this podcast doesn’t give professional or expert advice. The Hernons are just a Catholic couple who would like to share their experiences, observations, and encouragements to other parents who are trying to live as Catholics and raise their kids without losing their minds 🙂 . The inspiration for these podcasts came from younger family members in the Doman and Hernon families who were looking for ideas and advice at family gatherings. Their encouragement was the motivation needed to record these conversations for them- so it turned into a podcast. Messy Parenting will hopefully inspire other couples to talk to each other and parent their children more intentionally. Get the conversation going!
