Holy Land Pilgrimage

Mike and Alicia on the Sea of Galilee

We’re are overwhelmed by God’s grace.

In June, we were blessed to go on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and Rome. This was one of the most spiritual and powerful experiences of our lives. The experiences we had there have changed us and we wish we had more time to share some stories with you!  It is hard to put to into words but we felt the presence of God in a profound way and will never read scripture the same way again.

The Upper Room

As our group from Franciscan University celebrated mass in the Cenacle chapel, next to the Upper Room, we experienced a tangible outpouring of the Holy Spirit. When we were able to sing and pray in the actual Upper Room and it was as if we experienced a personal pentecost.  On the streets of Jerusalem we walked where Jesus carried his cross, and we were able to touch the place where the Lamb of God was slain.

The Via Dolorosa

We touched the rock where Jesus prayed “Lord, let this cup pass from me” and we saw the beach where He multiplied the loaves and the fishes to feed 5,000. One night we were able to go to the Church of the Holy Seplechure where the tomb of Our Lord is.  Few people were there, so we were able to go into the tomb and spend a few minutes praying with our hands on the slab where Jesus was raised.

It was there that we prayed specifically for our work with Messy Parenting and for all of you.  It was more moving and renewing of our faith than anything we ever experienced before.

On this pilgrimage we prayed for you and prayed for God’s plan for our little efforts with Messy Parenting, our “loaves and fishes”.  As we give this small offering to God, we know that the multiplication is up to Him!  Returning from this trip, we have an even deeper sense that we are being called to do more.  So please pray for us!
