MP 050 : The Hidden Cross of Infertility

“We must learn to regard people less in the light of what they do or omit to do, and more in the light of what they suffer.”
― Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Our faith celebrates and values children and openness to life, so having one child or no children can be particularly painful for Catholic couples who long for a big family. To discuss this topic on a personal level we interviewed Brad and Jessica Sheguit, Alicia’s sister and brother-in-law who have carried this burden for over 7 years. In this podcast, Brad and Jessica share their struggles and give advice on how to support couples who carry this hidden cross.

  1. I was trying to find a Catholic podcast on infertility, and this was the podcast that showed up. Thank you for being brave and sharing your story, Brad and Jessica. It gave me perspective into infertility, which was what I was hoping for. I will be using the advice you gave when talking to one of my friends who is currently dealing with infertility. Praying for yall!

  2. This is a great podcast episode. As a Catholic who has struggled with infertility, I highly suggest the Creighton Model and treatment through the Pope Paul VI Institute (using NaPro) also!! Besides going to Omaha for my surgeries, they treated me long distance. PPVI has been a blessing to my husband and I… After 3 years of infertility, we are due in 4 weeks!

  3. Thank you for this episode. I recently found your podcast and have been listening to back episodes. My husband and I struggled with infertility and miscarriage. We have two healthy boys now, who arrived in God’s time, not ours. It has been a tremendous burden for us individually and as a couple. Lifting Brad, Jessica and all the mothers waiting to become mothers, fathers waiting to become fathers, and children waiting to be born in prayer. – Heather
